What to Expect Next

If your application proves to be a good fit for the position, we will contact you to complete an interview and some additional screening processes.

Background Checks
In accordance with state and federal law, the Child Care Licensing Unit requires rigorous and thorough Background Record Checks be completed for child care personnel to ensure the safety of children in those programs. Background Record Checks must be completed prior to the date an individual is responsible for the care of, or has any contact with children.

We utilize the NH Connections Portal to establish each employee's professional registry. Within this registry, you will be able to complete the paperwork portion of the background checks. Upon completion of this setup, you will schedule your fingerprints appointment (if necessary).

Fingerprinting
Anyone who works with children in a New Hampshire child care setting is required by law to be fingerprinted through a process approved by the State of NH. Fingerprints must be completed using LiveScan. Ink print cards are not acceptable.

You may need new fingerprints if:

  • It has been over 5 years since your last LiveScan printing; or

  • You have been 180 days or more not working for a licensed center in NH; or

  • You are new to the child care field; or

  • Prior fingerprints were completed through public school systems or other non-DHHS child care sources are unable to be transferred.

When it's time to schedule your appointment, you will navigate to the New Hampshire State Police Criminal Records Portal. The cost of the criminal records check is $28.25. You are responsible for this amount up front and may apply for reimbursement from SCS upon start of employment.

If you experience any issues with completing the background checks and/or fingerprint appointments, please reach out to SCS HR Director, Sarah Castle at scastle@seacoastcommunityschool.org.
